Ledyard, Conn. — U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, on Monday officially began his second push to get fire police officers included in a federal on-the-job death benefits program. Courtney spoke at the Gales Ferry Volunteer Fire Co. headquarters alongside Gales Ferry Chief Tony Saccone. Fire police from several companies including Colchester/Hayward, Hebron, Mystic, North Stonington, and Waterford were present. Ledyard Mayor John Rodolico was also in attendance.
